Tourists of former times, traveling by rail, were beginning to learn the local beauty from here. The current railway station in Montreux was open later.
Country’s first phone was installed just here, in Territet. Here there is a final stop of a cable car started up in 1883.
Despite its modest size, Territet boasts three museums: Audiorama (Swiss National Audiovisual Museum), museum of the artist Victor Ruzo and museum of carts where you can come by appointment to view different landaus, fiacres and other strollers.
Empress Elisabeth of Austria, Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich Romanov and many others of the royal family, at different times, stayed or lived here. Now the most famous person among cottagers of this place is Bill Gates.
